SCP Descent is a survival horror game that plunges players into the depths of a seemingly endless stairwell, known within the lore as one of the mysterious SCPs – anomalous artifacts and locations managed by the SCP Foundation. In this game, players begin their descent with only basic tools: a torch to light the dark, eerie steps and chalk to mark their progress and prevent circling back to previously explored areas. As they navigate deeper into the stairwell, players encounter various audio recordings left by those who ventured here before. These recordings serve as guides and as haunting reminders of the stairwell’s perilous nature and the fates of those who never returned.

Survival Mechanics and Narrative Unfold

Throughout SCP Descent, the objective is to explore, survive, and ultimately find a way out—if one exists. Players must manage their resources carefully, using their limited light to avoid and deter the creatures that lurk in the shadows. The game’s tension is amplified by the psychological horror of isolation and the unknown, as the stairwell itself becomes a character, filled with sounds and movements that hint at the horrors residing just out of sight. Players piece together the backstory of the stairwell through the scattered recordings, which reveal the history and theories surrounding this SCP. The game is designed to be completed in a 60-90 minute session, making every decision critical and every moment filled with suspense as players uncover the truth behind the stairwell and confront the possibility that escape might be an illusion.
